12 People Abducted in Fresh Attack on Southern Kaduna

The community leader of Unguwan Babangida in Kauru Emirate, Mallam Babangida Sogiji, along with 11 others, has been kidnapped in two separate attacks on Libere and Unguwan Babangida communities within Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Aminu Khalid, the youth leader of Dokan Karji community, reported that four victims—Pheobe Adauji, Cecilia Moses, Tambaya, and his wife—were abducted around noon on Thursday while they were harvesting crops on their farms.

“The attackers returned to Unguwan Babangida on Friday morning and kidnapped six more residents, including the community leader,” Khalid stated.

He also revealed that two of the abducted individuals were seasonal workers from Jigawa State who had come to the area for agricultural work.

“We are still awaiting contact from the kidnappers regarding ransom or negotiations,” Khalid added.

Khalid expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation, noting that the incidents have triggered widespread fear in Libere and nearby communities, with many residents fleeing for safety. “These bandits continue to occupy more villages in our local government without challenge, causing havoc in various communities,” he concluded.
